The body needs nutrition and exercise…so, what about the mind and spirit? Would you agree that the body, mind, and spirit work in concert to determine our health and well-being? So, could that be our balancing act? “I think so!”
The age-old teaching that we need to balance the physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of our lives, is taking on more meaning than ever. While our technology is advancing at a great pace, it can’t produce happiness, or fulfillment. “Do you agree?”
You all know and understand how important it is to take care of your body, right? If you were told when you got your first car, that it would be your only one, that it would have to last a lifetime, no doubt, you’d take excellent care of that car. It will be that way with your body.
Just to be clear, you don’t need to qualify for Sports Illustrated…having a routine of self-care will support your self-confidence…no doubt, you know that!
Do we need to be guarded when it comes to our mind? “I think so!” We can let the right things in by being selective about what we read, hear, and watch; and who we associate with. We can use our mind to think, solve problems, learn, and be creative. And, there is always, “Grandma!”
What Grandma wants for you, is to appreciate your life, and to live that life to its fullest…being prepared to live your life in a meaningful, purposeful, rewarding result! Delivering a very happy life, that you have earned and deserve!
Exploring our spiritual nature is a move toward becoming complete. You might think that just because you can’t feel or touch your spirit, that it isn’t real. Integrating your spiritual life into becoming a whole person, will be very meaningful to you, when material things have lost their meaning.
Mind, body, and spirit…integrated, to complete a whole person. Thoughts to be put in your notebook in the form of questions: 1) Where did I come from? 2) Why am I here? 3) Where am I going? Answering those questions is more of a spiritual nature, or journey; bringing to light important discoveries about life, and yourselves.
Time honored values of kindness, and honesty lie in the heart of our spiritual understanding. I don’t claim to an authority on how one should live one’s life, but I have lived through a great many years now, and experiences…mostly good, but some not so good. It’s a funny thing that we learn more about , “The not so good!” It’s a paradox!
So, life is truly a balancing act!
Here I am, living in Jackson Hole, Wyoming thinking, "What can I tell you about my life and my own experiences?" Having grown up in Houston, Texas, then moving to Dallas, where my children grew up. We were fortunate enough to have a second home in Jackson Hole. At 84 now, I am over-read on self-help information. Self-awareness and being, or becoming more aware of my own behavior, as it relates to myself and then to others, is where my thinking and doing takes me. I'm about moving forward, for acknowledging to addressing today's problems, and what we can do to make a difference. It's important! At this point, I am only the messenger, offering solutions to the current suicide and drug crisis among our young people, in today's world; with a pathway to follow. Check out my website: tamingthewildhorses.com Currently, I am working at The Historic Wort Hotel's gift shop. Also, volunteer at our Senior Center. I enjoy being at home, cooking, having a garden (a good thinking and writing place), being with friends exploring the landscape, (which is amazing in Jackson Hole) and checking out our thrift stores. In just a couple of weeks, I'll be driving to Denver to be grandma to my teenage granddaughters for a month. In October, I'll be in Houston for a book-signing event for, "Taming the Wild Horses. Then back to my regular routine here in Jackson Hole. "Happy Trails Everyone!" B. Louise Bayer/Martens
